Over the years, there has been a growing interest in international students receiving a college education in the United States. With help from admission agencies, these students are able to apply to the colleges of their dreams in America. The role of admission agencies is to assist applicants in navigating through the college application process in foreign countries. Students applying to colleges internationally pay these agencies a hefty price and many offer guaranteed admission into their school of choice. While its original purpose was to assist students, the competitive market and the desire to make a profit has resulted in the act of fraudulent applications in order to fulfill the promise of admission. I believe the college†¦show more content†¦Andrew Hang Chen, the Chief Development officer of WholeRen Education, an organization that offers academic counseling, proves the unsuccessful nature of students using these agencies with the estimated 8,000 students that have been expelled from United States universities since 2013. These 8,000 students have been expelled or placed on academic probation for poor grades, being caught cheating, or falsifying test scores, which is a mere reflection of how they were accepted into the school to begin with. â€Å"This is not what we want in our universities and colleges,† says Chen, â€Å"our higher education is being tainted by these statistics† (CNN). Students who cheat their way into United States universities are not only hurting their own success and reputations, but the success and reputations of American universities and their professors. This falls in the hands of the American International Recruitmet Counsel, or AIRC. The organization was created to ensure that ethical standards are not violated when colleges and universities pay commissions to these third-party recruitment agents for appropriately identifying and placing students on their campus. AIRC is responsible for governing and setting the boundaries of other recruitment agencies once they have become certified. The certification process is nicely spelled out on the AIRC
